I heard a song a few years back called, “O Come All You Unfaithful” by Sovereign Grace Music. A song that made me pause and think, “Yeah, that’s closer to the truth.”
Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to be called the faithful one. But more often than not, I am buckling in guilt because I have tried to muscle through life on my own. It’s us, the ones who fall short despite our best efforts. The ones who get weighed down by the cares of the world, weary and broken from caring too much about the wrong things.
Above all, we are the unfaithful who have unintentionally let go. And it’s God who has taken hold.
But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.
2 Thessalonians 3:3
God has come to us. God is with us. Can you imagine? Through every part of your day, God is with you. Though we are sinful, God, in his great love, has come to welcome us back. When we have run away, God asks, “Where are you?” We think we have to hide away because our shame is too big for him. Our unbelief too grand for his understanding.
But, He holds our face in his hands, looking straight into our soul, saying, “Yes, my son, yes, my daughter, I have been born this day for you. You are the one I love.”
“There have been enough tears and guilt. However, rejoicing will be for this day and all of the days to come because I have made a way for you to come and be with me. There is nowhere else I’d rather be than right here with you. You may not believe it yet, but soon you will. Because I will not leave you.“
“I love you.”
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8
Celebrating hope this day
God now with us, come what may
A bridge is built, the way is clear
Sin defeated, God is here
His bright light shines in the night
God has come, our great delight
Shepherds watch light charge the dark
Now with joy we all embark
On a journey to share His peace
Every fear within decrease
God this day has shown his love
He’s sent a babe from up above
God’s own son in human flesh
He’s made beauty from the mess
Rejoice, dear one, and recall
He is Lord and Lord of all
Merry Christmas, my dear friends
Now the tale of love begins <3
